This book was very cute and i liked it. It started good the beginning for me was no problem to get through, it was a good opening for the main character. To see his background and everything that it would tell you. The characters were very likable, well the ones that were nice anyways. I was mostly fond of Chris, Ed, Marigold, and her father. They each had their own personality's, especially Ed. The story in itself was good, it had a little predictability in one area for me, but then again i was surprised in the other things that popped up. Its a fairy tale part comedy, and it was written in a different way. Strange but i liked it. The words were both modern and elaborate like. Sometimes they used words like "Muse" or "Quizzically" in talking and other times they partnered it up with "Partying" and some other none fairy tale words really. It was sort of like one of my favorite books (Ella Enchanted) in how it was portrayed and worded, Modern but not. This book was very cute and a nice read.
Plot Summery: When Christian was a little boy he ran away from home to live with a grumpy troll. Their he grows up happy and loved. His life is very comfortable to say the least, until it all changes when he falls in love with Princess Marigold, but of course he is just a commoner and nothing can happen between them, and he can't meet her because of proper etiquette. And he doesn't even know if she would want to meet him. Marigold will be the future Queen of her kingdom if she doesn't marry or if she lives there when she does, but why is Queen Olympia in such a hurry to get her married. And Princess Marigold's choices are becoming limited and more undesirable. With the king almost out of Queen Olympia's way, Christian finds out that the Queen has more reasons to want both her husband and daughter gone. So should he trust his gut instinct and warn the Princess to save her life or keep his mouth shut? Will he even have the guts to stop the Queen in her evil plan?
