Well i just finished this book and it was very good. The adventure of the story was my favorite part, the two main characters Elenor and Thomas go to many places and what they see and do was the main high light for me and i really enjoyed it. I loved the fact that the story was happening then and not being told as if it was their past. The characters were very nicely done, Elenor was my favorite, she grew with the readers and some of her thinking changed. Not in a dramatic spontaneous way but as a gradual adjustment. Thomas was a nice guy and he also grew up a little in the book. The other more background characters were also really likable and the way they were created drew me in because they were not just their, they had a story to tell and helped the story along. The only things that i would change would be Elenor's age 14, because her soon to be husband Thomas was in his mid 20's, the age gap is really not bad, especially back then but it would have been a lot less weirder if she was a year or two older. Then their was just a little to much religion in it for me, i did handle it but i think the character's minds were to gullible with that. Then ending was a little short but even so i really liked it, and all in all it was a very good book and one i would recommend to anyone interested with Historical fiction or anyone who likes a good and fun read.

Plot: In England, 1299, Fourteen year old Elenor is betrothed to the lord of her manor, Thomas, she is unhappy with her situation, unhappy with her future, and is very unwilling to let other people destine her life. Many she knows would rejoice at being in her situation, but she is simply not. But when Thomas a great hero of battle arrives back home from fighting for years in the Crusades he shares the same feelings with Elenor, both are unhappy with each other and both hardly know each other except for the general knowledge. He has problems with his life even and is not sure if he really wants to lord over so many people who depend upon him. So when the couple are sent on a pilgrimage, they are very happy. It gives time for each other to grow up, to at least see what he and she are like, and one last chance at adventure.

On their pilgrimage they meet many strange and wonderful people; from men of God to poor strong women and children with wealth of hope. Together both Elenor and Thomas share, good times and bad times, happy moments and terrifying days, and last but not least good friends. Little by little they come to accept one another, but is that enough?
